About Us

Studio Three16 is a Christ-centered art studio using our God-given talents to create art in a variety of forms with the goal of introducing Jesus to those who do not know him and strengthen the relationships of those who do.
One thing that we would like to make clear is that we are merely artists who have faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. The art we create is our personal interpretations of the teachings, experiences, and everyday miracles that we have encountered during our walks with God. While our art tries to capture the fullness of Jesus, we are limited by our Earthly talents and tools.
We recognize that Jesus is far more than we could ever capture on paper. One particular point we would like to stress is that there is no single detailed description of what Jesus looked like within the Bible. The closest thing we have to a description is through a prophecy made about Him 4oo years before His birth. This was prophesied by the Prophet Isaiah and is record within the pages of the Bible at "Isaiah 53:2-3". It states:
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
We believe there is a reason the Bible does not describe the Face of our Savior. The reason is because it does not matter what He looked like 2,000 years ago. What matters is what His face looks like today. His face is seen everyday when someone looks upon those of us who proclaim ourselves to be Christian. It is through our faith, words, and actions that others will see the face of our Messiah. As our pastor told us one Sunday, "Let your behavior and actions be in such a way that you become transparent. So transparent that those who look upon you will see through you and see Jesus."
With that said, the images we portray in our art is our personal vision of Jesus. We understand that the face of Jesus may look differently to each and every one of us. We do not want to presume that the faces we portray are in any way the face of our Savior and that any other depiction is inaccurate. The face of Jesus is made up of each and everyone of us.
While we are Christians who are trying to use our God given gifts to lead others to Christ, we are by no means the authoratative experts you should turn to for your in-depth knowledge and teachings. Like everyone else, we are fallible and capable of error. We ask that you turn to the churches and religious leaders of your community and denominations for the proper guidance and instruction of biblical teachings. We are only trying to instill inspiration and conversation among the masses with the ultimate goal of helping others to open the doors of their hearts and allow Jesus to fill them with the love, grace, and acceptance that we all desire.
